Noun: A Noun is the name of a person, place, animal or thing.
  • ·         Shri Rajendra Prasad was the first president of India. 
  • ·         New Delhi is a very large city. 
  • ·         Cow lives on grass. 
  • ·         Taj Mahal is famous for its beauty and elegance. 


    In the above sentences, Shri Rajendra Prasad, President, India, New Delhi, City, Cow, Grass, Taj Mahal, Beauty and Elegance are Noun words. 
    Kinds of Noun
    There are five kinds of Noun.
    1.      Proper Noun      :- Abhay, Lucknow, Dubai, Mt. Everest, Kaveri etc.  
    2.      Common Noun  :- Boy, City, Class, Mountain, River, Book, Girl, etc.
    3.      Collective Noun :- Class, Crew, Team, Jury, Committee, Fleet, etc.
    4.      Material Noun   :-  Silk, Wool, Wood, Gold, Paper, Copper, Clay etc.
    5.      Abstract Noun   :- Intelligence, Joy, Faith, Wisdom, Innocence etc.
